Telemundo Media announced that the most successful breakthrough artist in contemporary Latin music, Prince Royce, will join as a musician coach on the network’s upcoming singing competition “La Voz Kids,” slated to premiere in the spring. Prince Royce joins previously announced musician coach, Paulina Rubio.

“We are delighted to have Prince Royce join La Voz Kids,” said Daniel Cubillo, Vice President of Content Development, Non-Scripted, at Telemundo Media. “Prince Royce represents the new Latin artist generation with Hispanic roots, born and raised in this country.  He has an incredible ability to mix cultures, languages and musical genres that make him a great reference point for the kids and represent the future of Latino music in our country.”

“I am extremely excited to be one of the coaches of La Voz – Kids. It is a chance to help develop and encourage young developing artists, not unlike the youngster I used to be. I am committed to being the very best coach for the kids and for the competition,” expressed Royce.

Singer-songwriter Prince Royce is “the most successful new Latin act in recent years” according to Billboard Magazine.  His self-titled debut album has been certified triple platinum in the US and Puerto Rico, and quadruple platinum in Chile. The twenty-three year old has recorded hit songs with superstars Maná, Daddy Yankee and Thalia; toured the US with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull and recently closed 2012 with his own 30 city US tour which included sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall and the NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE.  He had the honor of performing at the prestigious Viña Del Mar Music Festival where he garnered the top honors - something unprecedented for a young developing artist. A three-time Latin Grammy nominee, Prince Royce currently has ten 2013 Latin Billboard nominations and has won 12 Latin Billboard Awards, 13 Premio Lo Nuestro and 12 Premios Juventud.

Featuring two, soon to be announced, hosts – the show’s innovative format features three stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Audition, then the battle round, and finally, the performance shows.  During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches have their back to the participants and hear them perform, but they don't get to see them -- thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the participant’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the participant for his/her team. At this point, the coach’s chair will swivel so that he/she can face the participant he/she has selected. If more than one coach pushes their button, the power then shifts to the participant to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes his or her button, the participant is eliminated from the competition.

Once the teams are set, the battle is on. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their team of participants, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success along with the help from their celebrity advisers. During the battle rounds the coaches will pit three of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience.

In the final performance phase of the competition, the top participants from each team will compete each week against each other. The television audience and the Coaches will decide who will stay in the competition.  In the end, one will be named "La Voz Kids" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract and a scholarship.

“La Voz Kids” is a presentation of Talpa Media USA Inc. The show is created by John de Mol, who will executive-produce along with Stijn Bakkers and Katrina Fernandez.
