Eastern Airlines makes a fashionable comeback at Miami Fashion Week 2014
By Esther Medina
One of Miami's most awaited evenings finally arrived, and it did not disappoint. Miami Fashion Week’s opening night was filled with excitement and amazing talent from all over the country.
This year’s highlight was the sponsorship of Eastern Airlines, which included a competition between Miami's top fashion designers. For this competition, the designers needed to create a collection of flight attendant uniforms for the airline, including one futuristic concept look for the year 2050.
Designer Lisu Vega from Maracaibo, Venezuela was the happy winner of the night. Vega looked to the past for inspiration targeting globe-trotting glamour girls in high fashion.
“My collection speaks to the modern confident woman who doesn’t care to look back in order to look fabulous. Sometimes the most futuristic fashion are already existing trends”, “Vega said.
It’s been years since Eastern Airlines made headlines. The airline went out of business in 1991, but the company that bought the logo and name is looking to get back into the airline business.
“We are extremely pleased to be one of the sponsors of this years’ Miami Fashion Week, an event which has become an integral part of Miami’s fashion, as well as the arts and sports scene. Miami Fashion Week is internationally recognized as one of the trendiest events worldwide, and we are honored to be part of it,” said Ed Wegel, President and CEO of Eastern Air Lines Group.
With one of the world’s most beautiful beaches and cruise destinations as its setting, Miami Fashion Week showcases the world’s trendiest designers as they present their fashion masterpieces to international buyers, media and fashion trendsetters.
