- Following its worldwide debut, The Lord of the Skies arrives at Natpe Budapest with unstoppable success in ratings, making this co-production the highlight of Telemundo Internacional’s catalog for Eastern Europe buyers.
"Our expectations for this edition of Natpe Budapest are very high. We have our agendas full for each day of the trade show and will be presenting two of the telenovelas with the highest ratings in the history of our channel: The Return and The Lord of the Skies," says Melissa Pillow, Telemundo Internacional’s Sales Director for Europe.
The original Telemundo Studios story, The Lord of the Skies, co-produced by Caracol TV, was recently ranked among the 10 highest-rated programs in the United States in the demographics Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 and surpassed NBC on Thursday, June 13. The telenovela-series also ranked within the group Men 18-48, among which it managed to surpass the ratings of ABC and CBS (Monday, June 10).
The successful story has gained preference of international buyers in Latin America, a region where it has been sold in 9 countries, and in which it recently premiered, in Panama and Costa Rica.
Another major success which also forms part of this catalog is The Return, a Telemundo Studios original production, starring Aracely Arambula.
"Additionally, we will be presenting the highly awaited telenovela Forbidden Love, based on the Turkish format of Aşk-ı Memnu. We are confident in the performance of these three telenovelas, along with our format offer, led by the outstanding TVN Chile comedy series, Better off Single, which will be a hot topic of conversation at this highly-attended event," adds Pillow.
Forbidden Love, produced by Telemundo Studios, is an adaptation of the renowned Aşk-ı Memnu, a story of love and revenge, which narrates the life of Bianca Santillana, a woman who decides to seek vengeance on her mother for the suffering she provoked when she caused the death of her father. Forbidden Love has taken hold of audiences in Latin America and has already had its first release in Europe (Georgia). It stars Jencarlos Canela (as Bruno Hurtado), who has more than half a million fans on Twitter, and former beauty queen Monica Spear (as Bianca Santillana).
Better off Single, the original series by Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN Chile) tells the story of Pedro Amstrong, who decides to end his marriage, quit his job, restore an old house and start from scratch. Newly single Pedro, along with four other men in the same situation, will convene at the house to live the bachelor lifestyle, until complications arise when their former wives, companions, children and in-laws begin to step foot within their new walls.
Lastly, Telemundo Internacional presents the anthology series Decisions, which exposes in each episode the crossroads that life presents its characters and their subsequent obstacles and solutions – storylines that captivate audiences with their realism and allow for viewers to analyze real-life situations just as if they were to personally live it.
Telemundo Internacional will be present at Natpe Budapest in the Hotel Sofitel Suite 121 from June 24 – 27.
